New Bike!

What better way to make my first-ever post on a blog than show off my new bike. The purchase was inspired by a recent trip to Pisgah where I decided that if I am only to have one mountain bike, it needs to have gears. Also, I have spent the majority of my mountain biking years on a rigid single speed and have become very accustomed to the feel. That said, in an effort to make this a less abrupt transition, I decided to swap the bike's factory Fox suspension fork for a Salsa rigid. Many thanks to Andrea at Trips for Kids/Grassroots Bikes for the Salsa fork and The Bicycle Chain in Durham for selling me the bike. For those with a sharp eye, ignore the lack of a front brake, the proper adapter is making its way to me posthaste.

I rode my buddy Scott's 69er which had the suspension fork and didn't really like the squish...

Yes I will be at Harris.

Is the Bianchi-bologna bike gone? Have you thinned your stable?

I still have the bologna bike, but plan to try and sell it in the near future.

Nice ride. I like the way the rigid fork looks on there, too.

You figured out how to use those shifter-thingies yet?

Dave said...

Thanks, and I think the lower ride height is to my liking. Not sure that I notice the lack of offset... I will find out when I get it out for a good long ride I reckon.

Really nice but you'll get tired of those shifter doohickies pretty quick. I predict after the first missed shift due to derailleur alignment getting out of whack. Want to sell me the Fox?

Dave said...

Yeah, I hope I can get used to this and have it a while.

I am going to hang on to the Fox for now, until I am sure I have everything the way I want.
